When Images Speak Louder Than Words Nikolas and Cecilie – Villa Rapondi, Matraia

Nikolas and Cecilie’s wedding took place in July 2022 at Villa Rapondi, nestled in the hills of Matraia, in the heart of the Lucca countryside.

A Norwegian couple who chose Tuscany as the setting for their wedding day, entrusting the planning to 2italia.

It was a simple wedding, entirely outdoors, lived under the summer sun and told mostly through images.

A Destination Wedding in Tuscany

Nikolas and Cecilie travelled from Norway to celebrate their marriage surrounded by the landscape of the Lucca hills.

The ceremony, held in English, took place in the gardens of Villa Rapondi, followed by an informal toast and a reception that unfolded gradually throughout the afternoon.

The entire wedding was celebrated outdoors: ceremony, couple portraits, and reception, in a natural setting without constructed backdrops or artificial elements.

Light, Heat and a Different Rhythm

One of the most distinctive aspects of this wedding was the pace of the day.

The ceremony was held in the early afternoon, in full sunlight and with significantly higher temperatures than the couple was used to in Norway.

After the ceremony and a first toast, we moved directly into the couple portraits, making the most of the strong afternoon light, before guiding the newlyweds and their guests toward the reception area.

A Reception with Nordic Traditions

The reception followed a structure quite different from a traditional Italian wedding.

Dinner began in the late afternoon and unfolded through a long series of speeches alternating with each course, in keeping with Nordic tradition.

Moments of celebration and dancing came before the cake, completely shifting the rhythm of the evening compared to what we are used to at Italian weddings.

A Story Told Through Images

This is one of those weddings where the story lives more in the photographs than in the words.

The natural connection between the couple, the light, and the setting made this a strongly visual narrative, leaving the images with the task of telling the day.

For this reason, what follows is primarily entrusted to photography.

An international wedding, lived under the Tuscan sun, told with simplicity and without forcing moments.

Sometimes, it only takes a conversation to understand if you are on the same wavelength.
