There are weddings that grow slowly.
And then there are weddings that arrive when time changes priorities.
Fabrizio and Alessia celebrated their wedding at the agriturismo Sotto il Cielo di Toscana, in Camaiore.
A day that was not just a celebration, but a conscious choice: to live the moment without postponing it.
Theirs was not a wedding built around waiting for the perfect moment.
It was a wedding chosen with awareness, giving value to time.
A wedding begins long before the day itself
My relationship with them did not start with a simple inquiry.
It began with a photography course.
With a mother who believed in the value of images.
With a group that, over time, became a genuine connection.
During the Camino de Santiago, Fabrizio asked Alessia to marry him.
A gesture perfectly aligned with their story.
They are walkers, travellers, people used to sharing the road and the effort of the journey.
Along the way they learned that time is not something to postpone, but something to live.
And so they chose to celebrate their wedding day with a rare sense of awareness.
A celebration at Sotto il Cielo di Toscana
The venue they chose was Sotto il Cielo di Toscana, in Camaiore.
An agriturismo surrounded by nature, perfect for couples who want to host preparations, civil ceremony and reception in the same place.
This allowed the day to unfold naturally, without constant movements, keeping the atmosphere intimate and coherent.
The theme of the wedding was the journey.
Walking together.
Starting together.
For the couple portraits we therefore chose symbolic places such as the Abbey of Camaiore and the spaces around the Ostello del Pellegrino, locations that reflected the meaning they wanted to give to their day.
The wedding trailer
A story in motion, from the backpack on their shoulders to the first toast.
The preparations
The day began in Lucca, at Fabrizio’s mother’s house.
In the morning we decided to create a slower, calmer preparation moment.
This allowed both photo and video to focus more carefully on the details and atmosphere.
It was not yet the moment of the real dressing.
It was simply a way to begin the day with space and breathing room.
Later we moved to Camaiore, to Sotto il Cielo di Toscana, where the real preparations took place.
Alessia got ready in one of the rooms provided by the agriturismo, together with her mother and brother.
Fabrizio prepared in another room with his witness.
Two nearby rooms.
Two parallel moments of anticipation.
Because a wedding story never truly begins at the altar.
It starts much earlier.
The civil ceremony
The ceremony took place in the garden of the agriturismo.
It was officiated by a member of the family, which made everything feel even more intimate.
The most intense moment arrived when Gabriella took the floor.
There is no need to describe every detail to understand what it means to hear a mother speak in that moment.
It is enough to say that the silence was full.
And that their “yes” carried a different weight.
Backpacks on their shoulders
At the end of the ceremony something happened that represented them perfectly.
Backpacks on their shoulders.
Wedding dress.
Wedding suit.
And then they walked away hand in hand through the rice thrown by their guests.
An image that cannot be staged.
It can only be lived.
Couple portraits
The portraits were simple.
No forced poses.
No artificial constructions.
Just time.
Abbazia di Camaiore.
Ostello del Pellegrino.
Places chosen not for their visual impact, but for their meaning.
Couple portraits are always the only moment of the day that truly belongs to the couple.
In the middle of a day full of people, it is the one moment where they can pause.
Breathe.
And remember why they are walking together.
The reception at Sotto il Cielo di Toscana
The reception at Sotto il Cielo di Toscana was designed around two meaningful choices.
The first was a framed photograph from their engagement session, printed with a passe-partout where guests could leave messages.
A memory for the couple to keep.
The second idea was the photographic favors.
Group photos taken during the aperitivo were printed directly on location and delivered at the end of the evening together with a scallop shell, the symbol of the Camino de Santiago.
The group portraits were organised between aperitivo and dinner, creating a natural transition that also helped the catering team manage the flow of the evening.
During dinner, between one course and another, the party had already begun.
A smart choice: enjoying the celebration throughout the evening instead of waiting for the cake cutting.
Cake cutting and the party
The cake cutting took place by the pool.
On the opposite side, guests created a vibrant scene with coloured LED lights.
A visually striking moment that still remained consistent with the tone of the day.
After that, the dancing continued in the gardens while we divided our time between documenting the party and preparing the final prints.
At the end of the evening, each guest found their photograph ready.
A tangible memory to take home.
A turning point
This wedding marked an important step in my way of working.
Until then I used to deliver proof galleries and let couples choose the final photographs.
Over time I realised that a story needs rhythm, coherence and a complete vision from beginning to end.
Today I personally curate the final selection.
This allows me to deliver the work faster, maintain a consistent narrative and take full responsibility for every image that carries my name.
Often it also means delivering more photographs than originally agreed.
But most importantly, it means delivering them while the memory of the day is still alive.
Beyond the images
Some weddings draw a line.
Before.
After.
Not because of what happens during the day itself.
But because of what they teach.
Fabrizio and Alessia reminded me that time is the true protagonist.
And that photographs exist precisely for this reason.
